The Seniors at Sterling Hills

The Seniors @ Sterling Hills (SASH) Golf Club was chartered by the Southern California Golf Association (SCGA) as an affiliate club in 2001. SASH has as its home course Sterling Hills and is open to all Seniors 55 or older.

Annual membership dues are kept at a minimum to join. With SCGA membership members receive a member number to post scores and develop a handicap for tournament play and to measure progress, bi-monthly SCGA magazine, an annual list of all Southern California courses and discounts at various retailers and courses. In addition, SASH members receive a bi-monthly electronic newsletter providing key tournament and personal information.
Mondays are our normal day of play but occasionally, if the golf course has a scheduled outside tournament, that week’s play is moved to Tuesday. The first tee time is 9:00 and members sign up with the golf staff via phone call or in person by Friday of the previous week. Individual play is held every week with the exception of a special-format tournament on the last Monday of the month.
Play is normally from the White tees but the second Monday of the month, two flights are held with play depending on handicap from the Blue and White tees. The club also conducts special outside tournaments and events, usually a Spring Tournament in Primm, Nevada and participation in the Fall Ventura County Senior Cup competition. SASH holds two annual SCGA events of note: the Four Ball Net Championship in May and the Club Championship in August.
In the Summer, SASH hosts inner city kids from Los Angeles in bi-annual Charlie’s Kids Tournament, named for a retired Air Force Sergeant Charlie Lee, who served at the old Oxnard Air Force Base and lives in Southeast L.A.
SASH is a very informal and fun-loving group of retired and semi-retired seniors from all walks of life, who enjoy golf and the camaraderie it provides. Come on out and try us sometime!
